World War Three

World War Three has started and it is unlike any war we could have imagined. Our freedoms and way of life are at stake, but the war is being fought in a way that is so underhanded, so devious, it is hard to realize it is even going on. But it turns out, these new methods of war have been employed before and are very effective. And now with technological innovations, these new methods are even more effective and more devious. But first I want to tell you a story.

In Forth Grade, my daughter had a mission project. Believe it or not, the same kind of mission projects that I did as a kid are still going on where kids learn about the catholic missions in California and ultimately construct one out of sugar cubes or some other creative materials. These days they also encourage kids to visit missions and do as much research on them as they can. Well one of the missions we went to was Mission San Luis Rey and I did  a little reading there on the history of the Mission. I was surprised to find a bit of history that frankly really shocked me.

In 1768, the Kind of Spain decided to kick out all of the Jesuits out of Spain and out of all of the missions. It turns out, Mission San Luis Rey was run by Jesuits at the time so they were also "removed" from the mission. But here is where the story gets a little odd to me. The Jesuits were force marched across Mexico to Vera Cruz and during this march many, many of them died. Some have described it as a death march. It is not documented if any of the priests actually made it to their destination.

I believe, the fact that the King of Spain would do this meant he was not a believer. He could not have been a practicing Catholic and then treat the padres so poorly. This would have been a Mortal Sin resulting in eternal damnation for the King, yet it is what he did. To me, not only did it mean that the King of Spain was not a believer, but it also meant that the point of the missions was not about spreading the Catholic Faith as a benefit to the Indians. Rather the missions were a way to weaken the Native American's culture in preparation for colonization. By converting Native Americans to an entirely new belief system, Spain divided and weakened them.

I now believe that this is an age old method for concurring people, using information as a weapon and I believe that is happening right now with Russia against western civilization.

It is now well established the Russia interfered with our lasted presidential election to elect Donald Trump. They hacked the DNC's email server and John Podesta's email server, ultimately releasing emails in batches to wikileaks which kept the story in the newspaper. Keep in mind, nothing in the emails showed anything negative about anyone, but the detractions kept the public from examining issues. Propaganda at its best. Divide people with nothing.

But not only did  Russia interfere with our election by hacking emails, we know absolutely, they did the following:

• The Russians hacked into state level voting machines.
• They set up troll farms that are still going today where Russians posing as Americans post mostly pro-Trump comments on any site they can.
• They bought political Ads on Google, twitter and Facebook. In fact, Congress has released some of the advertising that the Russians bought and it is shear brilliance in propaganda (see Some example of the ads here). All of it meant to stir American's anxiety. Muslims for Hillary. Pro Trump ads. Supposedly Christian ads (from the godless communists) show Satan and Jesus arm wresting. Satan: "If I win Clinton Wins!" Jesus: "Not if I can help it!"

Some of the ads were not pro Hillary, just divisive. After the election they posted ads about Trump being #NOT MY PRESIDENT.  This campaign was about dividing America.

And the Russians have been doing the same, world wide to destabilize the west. There is investigation of Russia's influence on the Brexit vote. There is now a report on the Senate floor that details Russians efforts to get Brexit to pass.

USA Today found that since 2004, Russia has meddled in the affairs of at least 27 European and North American countries with disinformation campaigns.

But even worse, our president seems to be making decisions that destabilize the west and would certainly please the Russian Government. He has started a trade war with Mexico, Canada and the EU. Our closest allies. He has called the EU our "foes".  He seems erratic criticizing Merkel and May, while praising Kim Jung Un.

We broke our commitment to the Iran deal, even though the Iranians had not broken theirs.

He has undone work on climate change and worked to reduce funding for education, the Environment., Transportation, Agriculture and Diplomacy.

There is now talk of Trump pulling out of or reducing funding for NATO

Bottom line, we are in the fight of our lives right now.

But what can you do?

Be fact check warriors. Do not fall for Russian Propaganda. Help others to see the truth. Visit Factcheck.org and Politifact.org regularly. Verify before posting.

And vote and vote wisely in the coming election. The existence of the country as we know it is being threatened.
